Club Penguin Discussion: Should CP Remove The Stage?

Hey Penguins,

I decided to write up a discussion today. Many penguins in the community want something new. They want something big. One thing Club Penguin could do is remove The Stage. There are many reasons regarding why they should remove the once highly popular room, and many reasons why they shouldn’t. In this discussion, I am going to be reviewing the pros, and cons of Club Penguin removing The Stage.

Club Penguin opened The Stage in November 2007. Many penguins were excited and waiting anxiously for the new theater to open. When the Stage did open, the first play to be presented was Space Adventure. It was a hit. Many penguins enjoyed acting out the scripts, and having fun dressing up in wacky costumes.

Club Penguin continued to release more new Stage Plays like Team Blue’s Rally 2, Space Adventure Planet Y, Fairy Fables, Quest For The Golden Puffle, and more. Altogether, there were 21 Stage Plays.

The Stage and it’s plays maintained a steady popularity rate until 2010. During 2010, only one new Stage Play was released, being Norman Swarm Has Been Transformed. During 2011, only two new Stage plays were released. This is a very big drop considering 2009 had 4 new plays.

In 2012, only one new play was released. I wouldn’t even consider it a play because it was used for party purposes. The name of the act was My Awesome Life – The Herbert Story.  The huge drop occurred in 2013 when not ONE new play was released.

Take a look at this picture. It was taken today on the server Abominable. Notice how empty the room is compared to 2008-2009.

Let’s get to the Pros and Cons of Club Penguin removing The Stage.

Pros:

  • They could add in a brand NEW Room
  • The new room could attract new players
  • The Stage items and Costumes would become rare over time

Cons:

  • Penguins who liked The Stage wouldn’t be able to visit it anymore.
  • The Costume Trunk would be gone.

Something else to note is that Club Penguin has even used The Stage as a extra party room during some parties. An example would be the Puffle Party 2014. CP transformed the Stage into a room called the Puffle Gala. It was basically an extra hangout room. There was nothing to do in it.

So what do you think? Should Club Penguin remove The Stage and put in a entirely new room? Or should they leave it and keep reusing past productions?

Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.  🙂

Yes they should remove the plays and change it into a theater playing Waddle On episodes and the costume trunk, keep the way it is.

I think Club Penguin shouldn’t remove the Stage, but they should add more plays to attract more players. I know a lot of people don’t act in the plays, but it would be cool to have people actually do it.

The Stage isn’t exciting due to it not showing new plays which would add excitement to the players. The plays themselves are not crafted in a way that adds “WOW” factor to audience, either. Scripts could have been improved on, and the stage sets themselves should not look like “real life props”, after all, Club Penguin is a virtual world. Obviously there is no need to mimic real life – as the creativity and the essence of fun is more important.

What would make the Stage interesting is if WE could create our own plays and present them at the Stage at certain times. This would involve more than just acting and directing. It would attract aspiring writers and designers. However, due to constraints with Club Penguin, this idea would probably used in a fandom to CP Team moderation style, which can add up to a heavy workload. Therefore, this idea is not that practical. With that said, a Book Room Writing competition wouldn’t be a bad idea.

I also considered the desire to turn the Stage into a Cinema, but again, this would be impractical. While possible, it would not be efficient for Club Penguin’s current position.

Regarding the Stage, I think it should be removed and replace it with something new, which would be more exciting and engaging. The Stage is simply a place to “act within a virtual world”, an “act within an act”. Considering the decline of the Penguin Play Awards, it is no longer a trend.

I do think they should remove it, or even MOVE it! Well, I’m not so sure where they would move it to (maybe the Town?). But it would be cool to have something new as a replacement of The Stage, because I feel like all people use The Stage for is the get the items. They don’t even use The Stage for it’s main purpose.

But, if The Stage was removed, what new room would you think would take it’s place?
