Joey “Jaws” Chestnut is an American competitive eater. He is currently ranked first in the world by Major League Eating. He is best known for winning the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest annually since 2007.
Chestnut was born on November 25, 1983 in Vallejo, California. He attended San Jose State University and studied engineering. He is currently a professional eater and holds multiple world records.
Chestnut began his competitive eating career in 2005 by entering the Wing Bowl, an annual Philadelphia-based chicken wing eating competition. He finished in third place and was offered a contract by Major League Eating (MLE). He then went on to win the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in 2007, setting a new world record of 66 hot dogs in 12 minutes.
Since then, Chestnut has continued to dominate the competitive eating circuit, winning numerous titles and setting multiple world records. He holds the world records for eating the most hot dogs (74), hamburgers (133), tacos (111), and pork ribs (14.5 pounds). He has also won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest a total of 12 times.
In addition to his competitive eating career, Chestnut is also a philanthropist. He has been involved in numerous charitable events and has donated to various causes. He is also an ambassador of the International Federation of Competitive Eating.
